 Marilyn Monroe starred in the 1952 movie Clash by Night with Robert Ryan and Barbara Stanwyck, scenes of which were filmed at Monterey's Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf areas. 1950's and 60's blond hair blue-eyed heartthrob Troy Donohue made three movies on the Monterey Peninsula. A Summer Place in 1959 with Sandra Dee, Susan Slade in 1961 with Connie Stevens, and My Blood Runs Cold in 1965 with Joey Heatherton.Doris Day made the 1956 movie Julie co-starring Louis Jordan, many scenes of which were shot on the Monterey Peninsula. You can visit Doris Day's Animal League at www.ddal.org.Sandra Dee, one of Hollywood's biggest stars in the late 50's and early 60's, made the blockbuster movie A Summer Place with Troy Donohue in 1959. Although the setting was an island in Maine, filming actually took place on the Monterey Peninsula.With a career that spans over six decades, from television, to hit movies, to winning Academy Awards, Clint Eastwood has established himself as one of the greatest and most respected actors and directors Hollywood and the world has ever seen. The 1971 movie "Play Misty For Me" starring Clint Eastwood and Jessica Walters is the only movie to have been made in its entirety on the Monterey Peninsula and was his debut as a director.

FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TRAVELING ON 101 SOUTH

Take Highway 101 South to Highway 156 West to Highway 1 South. Exit at Pacific Grove/Del Monte Avenue. Continue down Del Monte for 1.5 miles, staying in the left lane. At the corner of Del Monte Ave. and Washington St. look to your left. There is a large parking facility.Ę It is the most reasonable rate in the area at $5.00 per day. You'll be within a five minute walk of the Monterey Conference Center (see map).

FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TRAVELING ON 101 NORTH

Take Hwy 101 North. Just outside of Salinas take the Monterey Peninsula off ramp. Turn left onto Hwy 68 (S. Main St.). Take the downtown Monterey exit and turn right onto Abrego St.. Abrego St. will become Washington St. At the comer of Washington and Franklin look across the street to your left. There is a large city parking facility. It is the most reasonable rate in the area at $5.00 per day. You'll be within a five minute walk of the Monterey Conference Center (see map).
