Here's What
They're Saying About Monterey Movie Tours®....

Playing "Misty" for
everyone on movie tour
By Vera H-C Chan -- Special
to the Chronicle
Monterey -- In front of an old Monterey fish house,
an obsessed female fan stalks a radio talk show host.
Over at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove, two kids find
plastic-wrapped wads of cash. Along the twisting routes
of 17-MILE DRIVE® and Highway 1, jealous husbands and
suspicious wives grapple with their spouses at 60 miles
an hour.
Whew. To think I witnessed all this in one afternoon.
Who says nothing happens in Monterey except golf and
whale-watching?
The human drama -- and
snippets of comedy -- all came during the Monterey Movie
Tour, a three-hour bus ride that winds through the town
and nearby Carmel, Pacific Grove and the 17-MILE DRIVE®.
Offered daily since its introduction in July, the scenic
drive takes riders to the locales that Hollywood has
preserved in black-and-white and Technicolor, in
Oscar-winning flicks and less stellar fare.

New
"Monterey Movie Tours®" Debuts on the Monterey Peninsula
Monterey, California -- A new deluxe motorcoach tour that shows
off local sites filmed in Hollywood movies has begun on the Monterey
Peninsula. The "Monterey Movie Tours®" is a 3-hour daily
trip by deluxe motorcoach which not only takes passengers to see film
locations, but also offers live narration along with movie clips to
watch on overhead monitors on board the 32-seat luxury tour coach.
Monterey Movie Tours® is owned and operated by Doug Lumsden, a Monterey native
and the owner of the award-winning Monterey Bay Scenic Tours. The daily
tours, began June 26, 2003, visit many of the the site locations that
have been used in nearly 200 movies that have been made on the Monterey Peninsula since 1897. It is the only tour of its
kind in the continental United States, with only one similar movie-themed
tour being offered in Hawaii.
Showing off the Monterey
Peninsula as seen through Hollywood's eyes, the Monterey Movie Tours®
visits memorable local sites in Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach
and Carmel and shares details of scenes in several well-known movies.
Tickets can be purchased online for daily tours at
montereymovietours.com or by calling Zerve at (800) 979-3370 or (212)
209-3370.
"Moviegoers love to know
more about their favorite films and the actors who starred in them,"
says Lumsden. "To see or stand at a location where a favorite
movie was shot or a famous actor or actress strolled is a huge thrill
for movie fans, and we look forward to sharing these experiences with
our tour guests."
Interest in visiting
filmsites is so great that the Monterey County Film Commission recently
published its "On Location Movie Map of Monterey County," which lists
190 films shot in the region, including "Play Misty for me, Clash by
Night, Star Trek IV, A Summer Place and Rebecca. The film
commission is a non-profit organization that works with film production
companies to enhance economic impact within the county.
"Filmmakers have been drawn
to Monterey County locations for decades, finding our locations the be
the perfect backdrop for their shots," says Greg Robinson, Executive
Director of the Monterey County Film Commission. "Those taking the
Monterey County Movie Tours will be able to share the visions of beauty
and diverse scenery here which continue to attract film productions."
Journalists are invited to
experience the tour.
